Disaster Area Reassessments

As of February 16, 2021, Governor Pritzker declared Rock Island County a disaster area due to structural damage from winter storms causing large snow accumulations, frigid temperatures and bitter cold wind chill temperatures of 20 to 30 below zero. Learn more...

Effective January 25, 2021, the County Office Building shall be open to the public. 

Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs is closed to the public until further notice.

Social distancing measures and the requirement of mask wearing are still in place until further notice.

The Rock Island County Animal Care & Control Center,
located at 4001 78th Avenue in Moline will continue to operate, with COVID Protocols in place, including a limited number of persons allowed inside the facility at any time. Wednesday Clinics will continue, with Parking Lot Check-in.

Emergency Hearings In Custody/Parenting Time Cases

As a reminder to attorneys and families, Governor Pritzker's March 20th Executive Order 2020-10, the "Stay at Home Order," does not apply to court-ordered visitation. (See paragraph 14e.) The Fourteenth Judicial Circuit Courthouses remain open with precautions being taken in response to COVID-19. Covid-19 Media Release In an effort to significantly reduce the number of persons gathering at the courthouse, numerous court hearings are being rescheduled to a date later in May.

Chief Judge Walter D. Braud and NBC newsman Lester Holt appear in a Video, “YOU THE JUROR”. This Video was made in a Justice Center Courtroom in Rock Island County on Christmas Eve, 2017. Jury Service is a privilege and high honor. The purpose of this Video is to help Jurors understand their duties and Court proceedings. The 14th Judicial Circuit has the Illinois Counties of Henry, Mercer, Rock Island and Whiteside. 300,000 people strong, our 22 Judges handle 50,000 cases per year. Many are jury trials.     The Rock Island County Sheriff’s Department, in conjunction with the Rock Island County Historical Society and the Civil War Roundtable of the Quad Cities, are in the process of raising funds for a restoration project.
